Fred Murray

Fred has served as the Administrative Pastor at Southern Hills Church in Las Vegas, Nevada, for almost 19 years. Over the years, he has taken on nearly every role, but he has particularly excelled in three key areas of church operations: financial management, fundraising projects, and church operations. As he continues his current ministry role at Southern Hills, we are thrilled that Fred also helps lead the Ministry Bookkeepers team.

Financial Management & Development

Specializing in financial management, I developed annual church budgets that ranged from $100,000 to $3,000,000. During the economic crises of 2008 and the COVID-19 shutdowns, I provided emergency budgeting strategies to dozens of churches. Additionally, I successfully created and implemented financial policies and procedures for Southern Hills and advised multiple churches and new church plants in establishing similar systems. My efforts also included developing a multi-faceted process to engage givers in tithing to the local church while supporting global evangelism.

Church Operations

In the area of church operations, I led the policy-development process for both small and large staffs, ensuring effective management. I offered employee benefits and compensation consulting to churches through the Idea Network, and collaborated with legal counsel and insurance companies to safeguard the church against unnecessary risks. Furthermore, I oversaw the implementation and management of strategic systems such as assimilation, member retention, stewardship, and deacon/leader development.

Fundraising Projects & Building Initiatives

I played a key role in fundraising projects for Southern Hills Church, developing multiple campaigns that raised between $150,000 and $3,500,000. My experience includes extensive collaboration with general contractors, banks, and local municipalities throughout the planning, funding, and construction processes. I also oversaw several small facility improvement projects valued between $100,000 and $250,000, and led two large church building projects valued at $3,500,000 and $5,500,000.
